The program was launched with the aim of creating sensitivity as regards the mentally challenged in the people living in the surrounding area of the location of the agency and to help the normal, but underprivileged children of the area. This 2 hour supplementary education program for economically challenged girls and boys studying in municipal schools in classes 5 to 7 and living in the vicinity of Utthan, has gained a strong foothold. The number of children here has increased from 25 to 40…Here, the intention is to improve their basic foundation in education and inculcate values in social living.

Both the Utthan Production Centre and Utthan Shikshan Kendra received financial assistance from Share & Care Foundation, USA in 2001 to 2005.

This SEED money gave a great visibility and impetus to Utthan and enabled Utthan to cross new frontiers.
