As a sequel, Utthan Production Centre was launched with financial assistance from Share & Care Foundation, USA in July 2001.

Here, the trainees who have learnt the skills, make marketable goods and the sale proceeds are passed onto them.

The products include:

• Newspaper Bags
• Greeting Cards
• Paintings
• Wax Diyas
• Tailored articles
• Craft work, Embroidery work
• Spiraling Work

The Higher Ability group of 30 is the group which undertakes production, and is paid an incentive for the work done. Range of payment for those who are trained is Rs.200 to Rs.1000. per month. Some of them have become leaders and can act as a substitute when a teacher is absent. Two particular trainees are so good at the various steps in File-making , from measurement to the final step that they are able to assist anew teacher. Many of the trainees are ready for outside jobs. They are very good at repetitive work and are also very precise in some ways. With ceaseless efforts and a non-judgmental approach, the Utthan trainees have come a long way, from being hesitant and bashful , they are now enthusiastic and confident performers. Two of the trainees have now become leaders and serve as helpers to teachers.

Open Employment is a tough task. The dream was to set up a sheltered workshop, where the trainees can learn and earn. This dream was translated into reality and the inauguration of this new premises took place in March 2006.The entire construction of a whole floor above the existing premises was done through funds coming in from local well-wishers. Now, there is a facility of an Art room which provides free space for those who have talent in drawing and painting. And there is a computer room for an exposure to computer learning.

Today, the Kendra has two sections:

Section A - with 30 trainees on roll where basic life skills and preparation for vocational training is being
carried out
Section B - where the other 30 who are trained, work on the upper floor in the Production Centre.

Utthan buzzes with activity from 8am in the morning to 6pm in the evening.

A supportive education program viz. Utthan Shikshan Kendra is run in the morning from 8 am to 10 am.
