Our story

Rooted in lived experience, led by survivors.

Utthan was born from the conviction that those who have lived through trafficking and violence are the most powerful advocates for change. Our council unites survivor leaders, lawyers, counsellors and community organisers across the 24 Parganas to deliver protection, prevention and pathways to dignity.

  • Empowerment for survivors
  • Protection from exploitation
  • Education & livelihoods
  • Justice & rehabilitation
Our vision

A world free from gender-based violence, poverty and unemployment.

We envision an India where survivors' rights are protected by robust law, traffickers are held accountable, and survivors receive timely support to rebuild their lives and lead the anti-trafficking movement.
