Combatting trafficking through empowerment & reintegration.
Shakti is a collaborative initiative dismantling human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation. We focus on the "after" — ensuring survivors are not just rescued, but empowered to lead lives of dignity, safety and economic independence.

Four pillars of the Shakti project
Capacity Building & Handholding
Continuous mentorship for social workers and community leaders — trauma-informed care, legal advocacy and rights-based case management, plus Training of Trainers (ToT) to create a ripple effect of expertise.
Strengthening Community Engagement
Engaging local authorities, police and community leaders for a coordinated response, and building safe spaces where survivors reintegrate without stigma or fear of re-trafficking.
Economic Empowerment & Entrepreneurship
Survivor Self-Help Groups (SHGs) for peer support and financial literacy, with market linkages, loans and trade-fair access for small businesses.
Digital Case Management
A web-based MIS for real-time tracking, centralised coordination and data-driven, tailored support for survivors and their families.
Reclaiming the narrative
At Utthan, we don't just see "cases" — we see leaders. Shakti is built on survivor-led solutions at every step.
Tri-Party Case Management (TPCM)
A collaborative process between survivor, family and social worker for a holistic path to recovery.
Policy Advocacy
Training survivor leaders in media and communication to push for stronger anti-trafficking laws and fair victim compensation.
Cross-Border Partnerships
Strengthening international networks — including Indo-Nepal collaborations — for repatriation and complex cross-border cases.
The journey from survivor to leader needs a community of support.
