Healthy families are the primary defence against exploitation.
The Tafteesh Resilient Community (TRC) project builds deep-rooted resilience by strengthening the bonds between adolescents and their parents or guardians.

How TRC works on the ground
Intensive Capacity Building
Rigorous team training on the developmental stages of adolescents (ages 10–19) and tools for resolving family conflicts.
Community Engagement
Dedicated adolescent groups — Ashaar Pradip and Nari Shakti — create safe spaces for open dialogue.
Duty Bearer Collaboration
Close work with Panchayat Pradhans, ASHA workers and schoolteachers to identify at-risk families and align with local governance.
What changed in the community
Improved family relations
In Swarupnagar, adolescents reported significantly better relationships with parents and increased engagement with their studies.
Re-integration
Successfully re-enrolled group members into school and observed a notable decrease in substance abuse in the Sadiknagar Kultala community.
Governance representation
Adolescent leaders appointed to School Management Committees and invited to Gram Sansad and ASHA board meetings.
Institutional linkages
Inclusion of Utthan members in Village Level Protection Committees (VLCPC) across 17 Sansads.

Youth leadership
Adolescents are taking proactive leadership — including WhatsApp groups with duty bearers to streamline community issue reporting.
Interactive methods work
Games, symbolic representations and hand symbols help parents and adolescents communicate and strengthen their bonds in ways traditional sessions cannot.
Accessible in Bengali
All essential project documents are translated into Bengali so every community member can fully participate and lead.
